This linocut print was inspired by an oil painting I did in 2004 of Cape Smokey on the northeast side of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. The painting was cropped down and I decided to work with a completely different time of day and color combination than the original. The first seven impressions were done with one block (reduction printing) and a separate block was used for the birds at the end of the printing process. As many as six colors at a time were applied in an individual impression. I believe there were 32 colors used to make this print in total.
