The first ten years I lived along the Connecticut River, I spent most of each summer in a boat. The early morning and late evening were my favorite times of day to enjoy the water. Some evenings (even in New England) are steamy and heavy with moisture which tints the sun and creates a still tableau where the occasional bird call is all there is to be heard.
